Self-quarantine is a luxury that the poor and the homeless cannot afford. Hence, procuring food has become the biggest challenge for them and their children. Sometimes their children might have to go hungry. To die from hunger or the virus has become an all too real dilemma for them.
We knew the enormity of the task that the Government is facing. They are forced into a decision that would have happily not made. They need a helping hand from us – you and me.
Taking care of the poor and downtrodden has been one of our long practiced missions, but these are different times social distancing norms restricting movements greatly preventing the needy from reaching us and us, them.
The challenges confronting us are huge. The logistics, required manpower, the procurement of funds and working in a rarefied controlled atmosphere that ensured minimizing risk of exposure called for monumental planning. On our own it was hard to pull off. Hence, we called upon WE-Work For Equality, a Pune based organization that shares our goals and vision for the upliftment and care of the underserved section of society, the rickshaw pullers, the alms-seekers, the daily wage labourers, the waste pickers… who are the worst hit by the lockdown. We thank God and Working For Equality, for agreeing to our request and jumping wholeheartedly into the venture. The case for cooperation could not be clearer. It was imperative that we came together for we shared the same vision, the same goals, the same drive, both Naishtika and Work For Equality had to team together to make it a more viable program.
Most of the people whom we intend to feed are not only poor, they are also homeless and the only way they can eat is if someone feeds them… this is exactly what we, the two of us together, have set out to attempt. Both our organizations have a track record of exemplary service. Both of us are known for our unshakeable commitment to bring help and succor to the downtrodden section of society. A perusal of our websites will evidence our commitment and devotion to this noble cause.
We reach out to you to help us in this herculean endeavour. Together we can make a difference and bring a smile on their faces. The bridge that will take us from what we intend to do and what we can really accomplish can only be crossed if we are in this fight together. So friends here’s how you can make a difference and lend a helping hand by sending in your donations which are exempted under section 80G.
Remember there are two kinds of people today, people who can help and people who need help and sadly the latter far outnumber the former… Together we can do great things. It’s time you join this crusade, failing which those who die of hunger could far outnumber the ones whose lives fall to Covid.
